From Fri. 4th May to Thu. 31st May Roscommon Arts Centre Circular Road, Roscommon Phone: (090) 6625824 An exhibition of works selected from Boyle Civic Collection. The first two pieces of what was to become known as Boyle Civic Collection were purchased in 1990 at Boyle Arts Festival Exhibition. The Collection now comprises in the region of 300 examples of the best of contemporary Irish painting and sculpture. A decision was made in 1990 to buy work each year at Boyle Arts Festival for a permanent collection for the town funded by the commission made on the sale of other works at the exhibition. Works have been purchased annually since and donations have been made to the Collection by The Haverty Trust, The Friends of The National Collection of Ireland, The Contemporary Irish Art Society as well as by numerous highly regarded artists. |
